for the cycle breakers!

Good morning! I'm noticing a theme lately. One of the biggest hang-ups for my clients and readers is the following: Moms trying to teach their kids how to have a healthy relationship with food while still figuring it out for themselves. You want your kids to eat nutritious foods, but you don't want them to receive the restrictive/diet culture messages you got growing up. You want them to WANT to eat the damn carrot sticks. You want them to feel no guilt for eating the cupcake. You want them...

Hey there, After 3 weeks of recovering from a (planned/routine) surgery and an upper respiratory infection, I'm starting to feel human again. Yay! I knew I wouldn't be cooking after the procedure and my husband would have his hands full with extra tasks. So the night before surgery, I planned some easy meals that included stuff from the freezer. What I Ate After Surgery Spaghetti and Meatballs: Every time I make a batch of meatballs, either regular or vegetarian, I freeze half. Warm up frozen...

Hi Reader, I recently took a long hiatus from writing, and some of you are new here (heyhey!). So, I'd like to reintroduce myself. In case you signed up for my lunch freebie (here’s a link to that again) without checking out anything else, here are two things about me and what I do. #1– I'm a dietitian Browse my blog on 5 myths about dietitians Read what to expect during a nutrition session with me #2 - I'm a parent in charge of feeding a family Watch my family dinner highlights on Instagram...

Hey Reader, You may have noticed my absence from your inbox for a while. Since April, I paused everything in my business except meeting with my 1-on-1 clients. For those of you who don't know me, hi! I'm a non-diet dietitian and owner of Inward Nutrition. You're probably on this list through opting in via my 4-week Lunch Freebie or as a prospective client. It was an unplanned break. The circumstances for pausing were a combination of Maycember, a bout of energy-draining anemia, and school-age...

Hi Reader, Ya'll this is such a huge topic. Today, we're talking about how to raise intuitive eaters. Kids need a balance of structure AND freedom when it comes to food. (Actually, adults need this too...) Structure/Routine lets them know what to expect and consistency feels safe. Freedom/Choice helps them learn, develop preferences/identity, and gives them agency. At the end of the email, I'll give you the chance to vote on which concept you need more guidance on. Division of Responsibility...

Heyyyyy Reader, This weekend, I had a friend's family over for dinner. Something about spring...coming out of hibernation... makes me want to invite people over. As I put the finishing touches on dinner and set the table before they arrived, I noticed how at ease I felt. Back then... A few years ago, I would have been anxious to cook for others. It would have taken tons of thought to figure out what to make (especially with my guests' food restrictions...gluten-free and vegetarian). I would...

Happy Friday Reader! It's spring break over here in Dublin, Ohio, so it's been a mixture of work and play. My youngest still went to daycare this week, and as I was packing his lunch the other morning, I thought "just HOW MANY lunches have I packed this school year?" We're well into the 120 or 30-something days of school. So, A LOT! If you are a fellow lunch-packer, here's the equation I use to make lunches somewhat interesting without requiring too much thought in the morning.... Kid Lunch...

Hi there, It was SO lovely hearing your replies from last week's email! As promised, here's the list of snacks we've compiled together as a group: Our Snack List Keep in mind...there is no one "right" snack. These are examples to get you out of a food rut. Inspire you to take care of yourself. I recommend that you PAUSE to ask yourself what sounds good in the moment. Are you looking for something salty, chewy, cold? Happy snacking! Don't forget to grab your copy of the list today! Erin P.S....

Happy Wednesday! How has your week been so far, Reader? I just got back from hanging out with a dietitian colleague, and I'm getting ready to see a client now, so I'll keep this relatively short. I think SNACKS get a bad rap. We associate snacking with eating straight out of the chip bag, multi-tasking, stress-eating, grazing, or our body’s "failure" to “make it" until dinner. It doesn’t have to be this way! ⏳ Our body is made to require food every 3-5 hours. 🚨 Yes, you can anticipate being...

We're diving in deep right away in this email, Reader. Buckle up! Something happens that's not talked about on the Wikipedia page for eating disorders. When you have an ED or disordered eating (AKA strict dieting), you lose yourself. Your hobbies, relationships, desires, and even your personality get trampled by the pursuit of thinness. 🏃 First, your conversations get dominated by macros, tracking, your new goals, or exercise. 🛑 Then, you stop eating out with friends. 🎨 You no longer sign up...
